Ruben Amorim has been told to keep humiliating Marcus Rashford in public. Rashford has been frozen out by the Manchester United boss since revealing that he wants to leave the club and try a new challenge elsewhere. Amorim is refusing to pick Rashford in his squad and is unhappy with the England striker’s attitude and application on the training ground.
That led to his brutal comments after Sunday night’s 1-0 win at Fulham, in which he declared he would rather pick his goalkeeping coach, Jorge Vital, on the bench than United’s No.10. "If things don't change, I will not change,” said the unhappy Portuguese. “It's the same situation for every player, if you do the maximum and right things we can use every player. You can see on the bench we miss a bit of pace on the bench. But I would put [Man Utd goalkeeper coach Jorge] Vital before a player who doesn't give the maximum every day.".
Amorim wants Rashford gone and is desperate to cash in before next week’s transfer deadline. And former United star Lee Sharpe, who was on the end of a few tongue-lashings from Sir Alex Ferguson during his Old Trafford career, is happy to see Amorim being open and honest about his issues with Rashford.
Sharpe told Texas Poker: "I'm on board with Ruben Amorim's approach with his recent comments. Past managers have tiptoed around situations, and pandered to some of the players after really bad performances. "Amorim, however, has come in and clearly expects a certain level of commitment in training. You can't have a 6/10 training session and expect to deliver a 10/10 performance on a matchday.
