SAMSUNG'S smart fridges will soon be brainy enough to help you restock your fruit and veg. If you're running low on something, a combination of cameras and AI can sort you out with a fresh delivery. It's part of a major upgrade to the Samsung Bespoke series of refrigerators.
These brainy fridges come equipped with smart tech, including a 32-inch telly. But Samsung has revealed an even more impressive feature: robotic restocking. Samsung has teamed up with delivery app Instacart so that the fridge can shop for you. The tech giant says that it can use built-in cameras and AI to recognise the food in your fridge.
Instacart can then match these foods with its own products, and add them to your cart. If you're happy with the restock, you can sign it off and get it delivered on the same day. "We've all dreamt of a refrigerator that could replenish itself," said Daniel Danker, Instacart's product chief.
"Now thanks to this partnership with Samsung, that's no longer the stuff of science fiction.". Daniel added: "Samsung Bespoke refrigerator owners will be able to place grocery orders and easily restock empty fridge shelves via same-day delivery through Instacart from their favourite local grocery retailers.".
This major upgrade will first appear on Samsung's 2025 series of Bespoke refrigerator models. And then it will eventually roll out to existing Samsung AI Family Hub fridges too. This will come as an over-the-air update at some point "during 2025", Samsung says.
