Viewers who tuned into the latest edition of Silent Witness were left feeling revolted as the BBC show aired graphic scenes minutes into the show. The popular forensic drama returned to screens on Tuesday night (January 28) for the second instalment of the episode, Vanishing Point. In part one, which aired on Monday, Dr Nikki Alexander (Emilia Fox) travelled by plane from Mumbai to London but later found herself at the centre of an ongoing crisis when one of the other passengers came down with an unknown, potentially deadly illness.

On Tuesday night, the saga continued as Dr Nikki tried to discover what exactly caused the contagious bug which appeared to be affecting several passengers on her flight. But as soon as the BBC programme kicked off, and the opening credits had come to an end, viewers at home were greeted with scenes of vomiting and sickness on their screens.

With things taking a drastic turn so soon, fans of the show were quick to complain. One viewer headed over to X and wrote: "Oh God the vomiting Immediately. Stop it.". Another fan of the show said: "That was gross, just put me right off my supper ffs." A third viewer shared a similar sentiment and wrote: "Oh my stomach. I can’t watch people vomiting.".

Meanwhile, some viewers thought with the virus appearing to spread on the plane, face masks would be suitable for those in close proximity to those affected. However, Nikki and members of staff working on the plane failed to wear one. Sharing their thoughts online, one fan wrote: "Erm.. firstly I'd be passing round masks to everyone on the plane then I’d be securing a lifelong deal with this s**t airline for biz/1st class seats forever for interfering with my flight home.".
