Sir Jim Ratcliffe has left Ruben Amorim with a big problem, according to former Premier League defender William Gallas. Manchester United's new head coach was appointed in November following the sacking of Erik ten Hag the previous month. Despite positive results against the likes of Manchester City, the Red Devils have produced indifferent form to remain in the bottom half of he Premier League.

The Portuguese boss has attempted to implement a new style of play but has been forced to do so amidst a relentless schedule, with limited time on the training pitch. The decision to continue with Ten Hag in the summer has ensured a difficult moment for the club during the season.

Speaking to Prime Casino, former Arsenal and Tottenham defender Gallas has claimed Amorim faces a difficult challenge to turn around United's fortunes, and a process that may not be quickly completed. The Frenchman contrasted United's situation to that of Chelsea, who appointed a new coach in Enzo Maresca over the summer and are now in title contention.

"Ruben Amorim already has a big problem at Manchester United," Gallas said. "Arriving in the middle of a season makes things so much tougher, especially when it comes to getting your system across to players and trying to explain how they should play.

"The difference between Amorim and Enzo Maresca is that Maresca came in during the summer and could get his ideas across early, it's a big issue for Amorim this season and his side might only click next season.". Amorim will hope to see some positive signs of change when United take on Wolverhampton Wanderers. The 39-year-old is desperate to see more wins for his team in the near future, despite admitting there was a long-term plan to adhere to.
