The highly anticipated third season of the South Korean sensation, Squid Game, is set to wrap up the thrilling series later this year, and fans are on tenterhooks for the final instalment. The second chapter of this gripping tale was unleashed on Netflix subscribers last Boxing Day, plunging previous victor Seong Gi-hun (portrayed by Lee Jung-jae) back into a lethal labyrinth of trials. This time around, the stakes were ramped up as Gi-hun's attempted revolt ended in catastrophe when the Front Man Hwang In-ho (Lee Byung-hun), under the guise of player Oh Young-il, resumed his position as the puppeteer of the games.
After witnessing the cold-blooded murder of his friend Park Jung-bae (Lee Seo-hwan) at the hands of the Front Man, viewers were left speculating if Gi-hun could be next in line. Or perhaps, does the Front Man have an even more horrifying endgame planned for Player 456 in the upcoming series of challenges?. A sneak peek during the streamer's Next on Netflix line-up for 2025 has offered some clues. The tension-laden clip confirms that despite the botched rebellion, the remaining players are proceeding with the next challenge, choosing either a blue or pink ball from a dispenser in a fresh arena.
The players are then divided into two teams, gearing up for an unknown game that will inevitably culminate in yet another massacre, reports the Mirror US. Jang Geum-ja (Kang Ae-shim) and Park Yong-sik (Yang Dong-geun) are separated, but Geum-ja reassures her son that they're yet to learn the game's rules, hinting at their potential survival. As all players take their places, the crowd parts to reveal Gi-hun is alive and ready for the next round.
He picks up the last ball as the clip concludes, leaving viewers in suspense until the third and final season debuts on Netflix this June. Some sneak peek images from the upcoming season also confirm his survival, showing him bloodied and handcuffed to a bed in the dormitory with what appears to be the Front Man looming over him. While fans will rejoice at Gi-hun's survival after his face-off with the Front Man, several mysteries remain to be solved when season three arrives this summer.
Sky is giving away a free Netflix subscription with its new TV bundles, including the £15 Essential TV plan. Sky Stream lets members watch live and on-demand TV content without a satellite dish or aerial and includes hit shows like The Day of the Jackal and the second season of Squid Game. The Front Man himself, also known as In-ho, is missing after staging the death of his alter ego Young-il. Furthermore, Gi-hun seems no closer to reuniting with police officer Hwang Jun-ho (Wi Ha-joon), with whom he devised a plan to end the games.
