Sir Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves are set to woo leading figures from some of Britain’s key companies this Tuesday, as they pursue their mission for economic expansion. The gathering, where the Prime Minister and Chancellor will engage with chiefs from giants such as Tesco, BT, Unilever, and Lloyds Bank, is geared towards affirming their dedication to the prosperity of the private sector and drawing more investment into the UK fold.
In a move meant to boost funds for domestic investment, they will also unveil further alterations to pension regulations. With an eye on the upcoming discussions, Sir Keir emphasised the need for transformative measures: "To achieve the change our country needs requires nothing short of rewiring the economy.".
He continued: "It needs creative reform, the removal of hurdles and unrelenting focus. Whether it’s how public services are run, regulation or pension rules, my Government will not accept the status quo.". For her part, Ms Reeves highlighted the shared objective with the corporate world by saying that business and Government were "united on growth being the top priority". She expressed her drive to confront any impediments to progress, claiming: "I'm fighting every day to tear down the biggest barriers to growth, taking on regulators, planning processes and opposition to this urgent mission.".
