A forensic tent and police cordon are in place after a man was found dead at the Stockport Interchange bus station. At least three police cars were seen at the bus station and a cordon has been set up around the area. Greater Manchester Police said the man had died at the scene.

"Emergency services are currently responding to a concern for welfare at Stockport train station," a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said. "Sadly just after 5am, a 52-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene. "A scene remains in place with several roads around the station closed." Several police officers could be seen in photos of the cordoned-off area.

Travel services show Astley Street and Viaduct Street were both shut off due to the investigation, according to Mirror affiliate The Manchester Evening News (MEN). Drivers have been warned to avoid the area. Vehicles were seen being turned around by police in the areas where roads were closed. MEN reporter Paul Britton said in a post shared to social media: "vehicles are being turned around near the interchange on Astley Street as a cordon remains in place.".

The Mirror has contacted Greater Manchester Police for comment. Stockport Interchange is a key part of the town's £1billion regeneration for its town centre. The space serves as one of the key transport networks for Greater Manchester with 18 bus stands and about 164 departures each hour.
