Strictly Come Dancing Christmas star Josh Widdecombe reveals incredible diet ahead of debut

Comedian Josh Widdicombe is thrilled to be taking part in Strictly’s Christmas Special – because he can eat all the pizza he wants and still lose weight. The Last Leg star, 41, is partnered with pro dancer Karen Hauer. And recalling the wisdom of fellow comic Chris Ramsey – who came fourth dancing with Karen on the main show in 2019 – Josh says: “Chris told me you can eat what you want and still get thin. It’s brilliant. I’ve lost weight and I’ve been eating pizza every night – that’s why I’d recommend it. Not that I was fat when I turned up…” Karen interjects: “You had a little belly! I’ve never seen anyone sweat as much in the first 15 minutes… he was drenched. We did four hours and he worked so hard.”.
Josh may have shed a few pounds while training for the show, but it has not earned him any “cool dad” accolades. His seven-year-old daughter Pearl is a huge Strictly fan – but Josh says she was more excited to meet Karen than she was to find out he signed up for the show. “I probably wouldn’t be sat here if she was into The Masked Singer more than she is this,” he admits. “I’d probably be dressed as a yeti.” But he quips: “Thank God she’s into Strictly – I’d never lower myself to dressing up as a yeti on The Masked Singer like Alex Brooker [his Last Leg co-host] did.”.
Even so, Josh is hoping he does not embarrass Pearl – and himself – with his dancing as he and Karen perform a Charleston to Let It Snow by the Glee cast dressed as penguins. He says: “You think of the worst thing that could happen, like hitting Karen while flying through the air on national television on Christmas Day. Or falling on your a***. Then you’ve got to overcome those fears." But he is adamant they are not the comedy act, promising: “We do take it seriously. I don’t want her to get sacked. We want to win. “But Karen never wins, so it’s not my fault if we don’t win.”.
