Strictly Come Dancing's most shocking scandals as cast is rocked by Wynne Evans' exit

BBC show Strictly Come Dancing has been hit by a number of scandals in recent months, with many wondering how the much-loved competition could survive. Following the furious fallout from the Amanda Abbington allegations last year, in which the actress accused professional dancer, Giovanni Pernice, of bullying her during their training sessions, the primetime programme has been hit by another crisis. In the latest blow for the show, Welsh warbler, Wynne Evans, has been axed from the live tour following a vulgar sexual jibe he made about co-star, Janette Manrara.
Wynne is now taking some time out after agreeing with BBC bosses that it was the best course of action for all involved. Strictly bigwigs have certainly had to some fire-fighting over the last year, with a whole host of scandals to hit the sequin-strewn series. So, as the Strictly tour carries on without Wynne, here's a look at some of the worst blows to hit the show, kicking off with Amanda and Giovanni...
Giovanni Pernice, 34, was dropped from the BBC show after his dance partner in 2023, Amanda Abbington, 50, described his behaviour in the training room as "inappropriate", adding "it was mean, it was nasty, it was bullying". After an internal investigation, the BBC apologised to the actress after upholding some of her complaints against Giovanni, but cleared the dancer of the most serious allegations. When the BBC's report was published, BBC News was told the review looked into 17 complaints and six were upheld.
Defending his training style on ITV's Lorraine in October, Giovanni said: "Bully is a big word and there's a difference between being a bully and caring about what you do." The dancer went on to win the Italian version of the Strictly, Bailando con le Estelle, last year during which he picked up a new girlfriend, celebrity partner, Bianco Guaccero.
