Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Wynne Evans was absent from the stage tonight after announcing he's agreed to "take some time out" of the BBC show's tour. Wynne, 53, has made headlines recently after making a demeaning remark to tour host Janette Manrara at a photocall during the launch in Birmingham. He later issued an apology and it's since been announced that he's taking a break from the tour, as well as his BBC Radio Wales show.
It's now been revealed that he wasn't on stage at the M&S Bank Arena Liverpool for the latest show on Tuesday. He was nowhere to be seen as his colleagues left their hotel ahead of the live show after having previously been spotted alongside some co-stars after they turned up in the city recently.
His departure from the tour comes after it was revealed earlier this month that Wynne had referenced a sexual act whilst posing for photos with his colleagues. As previously reported, it came after Janette walked over to the group. Wynne sang out "Go Compare" before adding: "Not too close to Jamie [Borthwick]." He then appeared to use the term "spit roast," in reference to a lewd sexual, act in the video published by Daily Mail.
Wynne later apologised, telling the Mirror in a statement: "My language was inappropriate and unacceptable for which I sincerely apologise." Following the incident, a spokesperson for the Strictly Live Tour and BBC Studios said: "We were not previously aware of the remark and did not receive any complaints. We have made it very clear to Wynne that we do not tolerate such behaviour on the tour.".
