Netflix's espionage thriller The Recruit is finally back, with Noah Centineo stepping back into the shoes of Owen Hendricks. The series first hit screens in 2022 and won over TV audiences, who awarded it an 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It sees Centineo as a bright-eyed CIA lawyer, who is thrust into the intelligence agency fresh out of law school. Viewers will remember that season one came to a shocking end as Owen discovered that Max Meladze's (Laura Haddock) long-lost daughter was still alive.

The second instalment picks up where the cliff-hanger left off, over two years ago. However, the main character is tasked with a new mission that takes him to South Korea. As Netflix users tune in to season two, here's everything there is to know about the 28-year-old leading star. Centineo was born in Miami in May, 1996. He stepped into the industry at eight years old, thanks to his sister. The Netflix star has attributed his desire to pursue acting to his sibling Taylor. According to Centineo, his sister wanted to be a model and 'dragged' him along to her open-call audition.

"She dragged me to this audition and I’m sitting there and someone comes over to me and they’re like, ‘Hey, are you auditioning?’ and I was like, ‘No!’ and they were like, ‘Come on, you should audition’ and I was like, ‘No, I don’t want to’ and they said, ‘No, I really think that you have potential, you should audition,' he told Pop Culturalist in 2017. A few years after his first-ever audition, the young star booked a small part on Disney Channel's Austin & Ally.

Centineo was originally offered a one-line role on the 2010s drama. However, he later became a reoccurring character, appearing opposite Laura Marano. The actor went on to appear in beloved TV shows on the network, including Shake It Up and Jessie. In 2014 he portrayed a love-interest in Disney's How to Build A Better Boy, starring opposite child stars China Anne McClain and Kelli Berglund. It was in 2015 that he landed a career-making part on ABC's The Fosters. The family drama, which premiered in 2013, had already garnered a cult following when Centineo stepped in.

Former Disney star Jake T. Austin was part of the series' ensemble for its first two seasons and Centineo assumed his role for the show's following three seasons. Shortly after The Fosters aired its finale, the budding performer starred in Netflix's romantic comedy, To All The Boys I've Loved Before. Based on Jenny Han's popular novel series, the drama, which went on to have two more feature-films, sees Centineo as a charming jock.

According to the actor, the flick paved the way for him to receive more opportunities in the industry. "Suddenly, people knew my name. Suddenly, I had opportunities that I’d never had before," he told The Hollywood Reporter in 2023. Reflecting on how he adjusted to the fame, he said: "It was overwhelming for like 20 minutes, and then I was like, ‘Alright, I can deal with this. This is good.'”. Having entered the entertainment industry at a young age, Centineo has opened up about his history of heavy drug use between the ages of 17 and 21. When asked about the substances he had dabbled in, he told Harper's Bazaar: "Everything.". "There wasn’t really much I wouldn’t do. I never, ever injected anything, which is good. I smoked a lot of things. I was really upset, man. It was a really dark time in my life," he confessed in 2020.

At the time, the movie star revealed that he had been sober for a year before his 21st birthday. He made the change after a period where he and his friends would "take Molly and talk for five hours and like get to the bottom of some really deeply philosophical existential questions". Although he "left a lot in the past" Centineo later confirmed to Variety that he is not completely sober anymore and still drinks alcohol.

"There’s a lot that I don’t do anymore. … But when I have to work, I cut out everything," he explained. In June 2020, Centineo sparked romance rumours with Anastasia (Stassie) Karanikolaou, known for being a close friend of Kylie Jenner. The actor left a playful comment on Stassie's Instagram, which lead fans to suspect a relationship was blooming between the pair. They were later spotted holding hands around Halloween of the same year and reportedly went on to have a private relationship. The duo's current relationship status is unclear.
