Thousands of Three, iD Mobile and Smarty users are unable to make calls in a major outage affecting the mobile phone networks. According to Downdetector, issues for the major phone service provider peaked at nearly 11,000 complaints. 85% of complaints registered showed problems with voice-calls, with another 15% saying they had no signal. The number of complaints dropped under 9,000 at 3.10pm before spiking again to 9,350 at 3.55pm. As of 4.10pm, the number of complaints was back down to 8,700.
Several Three subscribers have also turned to social media to indicate connectivity issues. iD Mobile and Smarty Mobile are also experiencing outages. One user said: "3 and Smarty has been down now for over 2 hours. No update on the 3 app, nor any update on their web pages. Total disregard for their customers." Another disgruntled customer wrote: "Three's website appears to be broken as well, though I did get through to a page where they said there's an "issue" in my area and they're working on it.".
iD Mobile said on social media: “Hey there, we're aware of a network-wide issue affecting services. Unfortunately we're unsure when this will be fixed, however, we're reporting this to our teams and working to resolve this as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”.
In a statement, Three told TechRadar: “We are aware of an issue affecting a small percentage of voice services and are working hard to fix it. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. Data services and 999 calls are unaffected, please bear with us".
