Time to ditch your Sky TV box? Something 'smarter' and 'better' is coming soon

If you want one of the best TV experiences on the planet then it's hard to beat Sky. The firm already offers some top-notch ways of tuning into content but things could be about to get even better. In a recent message sent to the tech team at Mirror Online, Sky said: "Hello from Sky.
"Be one of the first to see what's next. Smarter, brighter and better than ever.". It's a pretty cryptic note but it looks set to be an exciting start for homes that want to binge on endless boxsets, watch blockbuster movies or view the best action from the Premier League. So what could be announced and when will we find out more?.
Other than the email that has arrived in our inbox, Sky is currently staying tight-lipped about what is to come. However, there are plenty of things we think could be revealed in the coming months. Firstly, Sky could give its Q boxes a major refresh as these popular devices haven't been updated in years. Fans of the satellite-powered gadgets would surely welcome a speed boost, new look and bonus features.
The only thing that could scupper a Q boost is Sky's apparent effort to attract more people to its streaming devices. With that in mind, it seems more likely that we'll see an upgrade to Sky Stream or Sky Glass instead. Both of these devices use the web to beam content to the big screen which means they don't need tricky installation and it's easier for Sky to push out feature-packed upgrades.
For those not aware, Sky Stream is a small box that sits under your current telly and brings live and on-demand shows right to the display. It's proving to be a popular device especially as it's now available for just £15 per month via the Essentials plan.
