Acting legend Tom Selleck spent his milestone 80th birthday in a low-key way, grabbing lunch from a McDonald's drive-thru in Thousand Oaks, California. The legendary actor was spotted picking up fast food on Wednesday, marking the occasion with a quiet outing rather than a grand celebration. Last month, Tom spoke to Parade magazine about his feelings toward birthdays, admitting he doesn’t put much weight on them.

When asked about his plans for the big day, he responded, "None whatsoever. I’ll probably have dinner with maybe my brother and my sister and Jillie, just go out to dinner, kind of be quiet and not make a big deal of it." He was referring to his wife, Jillie Mack, 67. The Magnum, P.I. and Blue Bloods star, known for his rugged on-screen presence, has made it clear that birthdays don’t hold much significance for him anymore. "I'm trying not to count. I stopped celebrating birthdays a while back. I intend to keep working," he said.

Dressed casually, with his signature dark hair and goatee, Tom was seen eating in his truck after collecting his order, according to eyewitnesses. While fans might have expected a more glamorous celebration for the beloved star, it seems he preferred a simple, no-fuss day - just as he intended. Late last year, Tom was contemplating his next moves as the curtain fell down on the beloved CBS police drama series, Blue Bloods. Having starred as the family head honcho Frank Reagan across all 14 seasons, the former Magnum PI lead has become a household name over the show's successful decade-plus run.

Viewers were gutted when Blue Bloods' final season aired last October. Yet, Tom is not hanging up his TV hat just yet, despite wrapping up the final eight episodes of Blue Bloods. He's dropped hints about making a comeback in another fan-favourite role and no, it's not as Thomas Magnum, reports the Express. Before we first saw him in Blue Bloods back in 2010, Tom captured audiences in the Jesse Stone: Stone Cold TV film, playing the eponymous small-town police chief.

In the nine TV films adapted from Robert B Parker's gripping novels, he brought to life the New England top cop untangling mysteries in the quaint town of Paradise, Massachusetts. Tom didn't just act; he put pen to paper for several instalments and even snagged an Emmy nomination for his work in the 2007 flick Jesse Stone: Sea Change, a testament to his connection to the character. He's now mulling over a return to the Jesse Stone franchise, albeit with the possibility of having to don the writer's cap again this time, revealing to TV Insider: "It looks like now I might have to write [the script]." Still, he hinted at more tales to tell, saying: "It wouldn't be a final one because everybody loves it. Jesse is a great character, and it would be fascinating to find out where he is quite a few years later.".
