A town's Christmas lights display has been widely ridiculed after residents joked that they looked like underwear hanging up on a clothesline. The festive decorations, which the council say are supposed to be 'lanterns', shine brightly on the high street in the market town of Fleet, Hampshire.
But several locals were quick to point out that the dazzling display has a closer resemblance to a row of underpants. Stephen Kellett said: 'If they're not meant to look like underpants what were they intending them to look like? I really can't see anything other than underpants.'.
Matt added: 'It's like a magic eye, once you see it.'. Michele Anne Chambers said: 'I mean yes they do look like underwear. I'm not bothered about it though.'. Darren Wilson joked: 'All we are saying is give Fleet some pants.'. Council bosses saw the funny side of it and welcomed the fact they had brought the town some festive cheer.
