Trinny Woodall spoke about her on-screen spat with Dragon's Den star Touker Suleyman during her appearance on the most recent episode of the BBC show. Appearing as a celebrity guest, the beauty entrepreneur clashed heads with the business star over one woman’s cleaning accessories. Touker told her one of the issues he faced with her pitch was the reliance of online sales. He said: “How do you switch it all off and still keep the lights on?” Putting her hand up in disbelief, Trinny commented: “You always come up with this thing of, like, the end of D2C. You know, when I watch this show, I hear you say it. I just umbrage because I think there is power in D2C.”.
It was clear they weren’t going to see eye-to-eye as he highlighted the woman was losing money. However, both Touker and Trinny ended up putting an offer forward, with the client going for a joint deal with Trinny and Deborah. Speaking about the slight clash with Touker, Trinny explained to This Morning hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary her reasons for disagreeing with him. During Friday's show, she told the ITV stars: "What happened was he was sort of challenging this woman, saying,’You’re doing a lot of director consumer and you’re growing as a business, you haven’t made money yet'.
“So when you’re a business that’s online, you have to grow that business and she had gotten a little bit of investment so she was growing a business.”. Trinny shared that Touker didn’t believe there was much of a future in the woman’s business, which she disagreed with. Highlighting that 75% of her business was online, Trinny told the ITV hosts a lot of businesses in the UK are now mainly online.
She added: “That was his opinion, I’ve known him for 30 years. We have to just know what goes on behind the scenes. I’ve known him for 30 years and so I felt I could challenge him because I knew him. I was like, ‘Come on Touker’. “It was really fun to do! But it was not, you know how some of those things are for television? It was just what happened.”. Despite the slight confrontation, Trinny shared how much she enjoyed taking part in the show. She added: "It was good, it's very nerve-wracking to be up there. I know how nerve-wracking it is to be up there.".
