Donald Trump’s inauguration day is causing havoc with the TV schedule, with popular gameshow The Chase being scrapped. The new president of the United States of America will be officially sworn in today and the event will televised around the world, and the UK is no exception.

The historical moment comes after Trump, 78, won the November election, meaning he will now become the US’s 47th president. ITV and BBC are both airing programmes covering the start of Trump’s second term as president throughout the afternoon. In order to make the room, some daytime shows have been taken off the schedule.

Trump’s swearing-in ceremony will start at 12pm EST, which is 5pm GMT. Coverage – called Donald Trump: The Inauguration – begins at 4pm on ITV. Usually at this time, Deal or No Deal is shown but this has been bumped up to an hour earlier to make way.

At 5pm, The Chase is often aired, but this has been axed for the day with no replacement airing at a different point in the schedule. Starting their coverage, President Trump’s Inauguration, at the slightly earlier time of 3:30pm, a number of daytime regulars have been bumped. Often the slot is given to The Bidding Room, The Travelling Auctioneers, and Pointless, but each will be missed. There’s always BBC iPlayer if you still want to get your fix.

But what will you be watching instead of Bradley Walsh and Alexander Armstrong asking the public tricky questions?. Trump will take the presidential oath and deliver an inaugural address. An official farewell to the Bidens will then take place and the ceremonial departure typically happens via helicopter.
