What is it about a warm, cosy bed that causes the brain to boot up and start whirring, on and on for hours?. Just one night of bad sleep can affect your health for weeks after, and insomnia can prove costly for your wallet as you spend your hard-earned cash on supplements. It can also be detrimental to your wellbeing.
Yet, one in five of us don’t get enough sleep, according to Mental Health UK. Overthinking is a big culprit, with the knowledge that we probably won’t get enough sleep further fuelling the anxiety we feel, trapping us in a vicious cycle of worry, stress and sleep deprivation.
But one woman, who knows a thing or two about relaxation, has shared a ‘strange’ sleep hack which she claims works for ‘everyone’. Meditation teacher Emily Kessler, 36, shares relaxation tips and tricks with her 148,000 followers on TikTok. The New York-based expert recently went viral with her interesting tip for silencing your thoughts and slipping off to sleep.

Emily, for example, uses her grandma’s house.
‘You visualise yourself slowly walking up to the house, noticing all the details about the outside, going up to the door and opening the door,’ she explained. ‘[Then] walking in, seeing the layout, and then slowly going through each room and noticing things in as much detail as possible.
