A TUI flight attendant was rushed to hospital earlier this week after falling from a plane. The serious incident occurred on Monday afternoon at East Midlands Airport, when the unnamed crew member opened the plane’s door expecting the stairs to still be attached.

The stairs though, had been removed causing the member of staff to fall, according to Nottinghamshire live. Emergency services were quick to arrive to the scene at around 4.30pm, with an air ambulance and the airport’s fire service present. The woman was transported to Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment. Her current condition is not yet known.

One source, who supposedly witnessed the moment the stewardess fell, told Nottinghamshire Live: ‘She opened the door, took a step out and the stairs that were supposed to be there were not there for whatever reason. ‘She fell to the tarmac and I heard she was seriously injured.’.

The Air Accident Investigations Branch have now launched a probe into the incident. A statement issued by the branch read: ‘An accident that occurred at East Midlands Airport on Monday, December 16th, was notified to the AAIB. ‘An investigation has been launched and inspectors have visited the airport to gather evidence and make enquiries to understand more about the circumstances.’.
