Two teenagers have been charged with murder over the stabbing of schoolboy Kelyan Bokassa on a bus in Woolwich last week. The youths, aged 15 and 16, will appear at Bromley Youth court later today. Kelyan, 14, was attacked and killed as he travelled on the 472 bus on Woolwich Church Road on January 7.
A 44-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender but has since been released under investigation. David Malone of the Crown Prosecution Service said: ‘We have today authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge two teenagers with murder following the tragic death of Kelyan Bokassa in Woolwich on January 7, 2025.
‘The boys, aged 15 and 16, who cannot be named at this stage in legal proceedings, will appear at Bromley Youth Court for a first hearing on Thursday January 16. ‘Our thoughts remain with Kelyan’s family and friends at this difficult time.’. Kelyan’s mum Mary told Metro her son was ‘very kind and caring’ and dreamed of becoming a chef after being inspired by Jamie Oliver.
She said: ‘My son and others were taken advantage of by gangs. They were groomed. He was on edge very scared going out.’. She added she feared for his safety when he was out on the streets of London. She told Metro: ‘It was his first day back at school. He was out with his uniform on, he was very proud. It was another day, he was happy.
