Five casualties were left in critical condition after one of the trams reportedly reversed at full speed in the station tunnel. Most of the injuries were scalp wounds, knee sprains and broken collarbones, he said. The city mayor Jeanne Barseghian said the ‘brutal’ crash could have caused by a reversing tram. ‘What we know at this stage is that there was a brutal collision between two trams, on the platform, under the station,’ she said.
