Brits in at least 35 areas across the country have been urged to "act now" as floods are forecast to hit amid continued chaos from Storm Eowyn. A slew of red flood warnings have been issued across the southeast, London, Wales and the Midlands, with torrential rain set to batter multiple areas in the firing line. Another 170 amber alerts are in place across most of the south, Midlands and some areas of North Yorkshire.

According to GOV UK, the imending floods will be triggered by a deluge of heavy rain that will cause rivers to overflow, as well as high tides and surges coupled with strong winds at sea. It comes after more than 100 people forced to evacuate their homes due to flooding, with Somerset Council declaring a major incident and warning residents of further disruption as the storms rage on.

More torrential rain is forecast today across Wales, the Midlands, London, Southwest England, and the southeast. Two yellow weather warnings for rain have been issued by Met Office across these regions, warning of heavy, blustery showers and possible thunderstorms - which is expected to flood homes and businesses, and cause travel chaos.

GOV UK has advised Brits at risk to "start acting on your flood plan if you have one. Avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded." It added: "If you have been evacuated, only return to your property once the emergency services have advised that it is safe to do so.".

Residents in Somerset have so far been worst affected by the rain, with more than 100 evacuated from Somerton, Ilminster and Chard as flash flooding triggered by the combination two storms – Herminia and Eowyn – continue to cause major disruption. Somerton Fire Station said 61 people were rescued from flooded properties, including a mobile home site in Charlton Adam, and temporarily relocated to Edgar Community Hall.
