THIS is the moment China unveiled a creepy humanoid robot with chilling ultra-acrobatic skills and an "owl-like" waist. The lifelike robot - named PM01 - mimics human movement and can rotate its waist 320 degrees. It promises to be more flexible and fast than previous models too - with a top speed of 4.5mph.

And having been designed to walk with a natural gait it appears more human-like than ever. The robot was developed by the Chinese firm EngineAI and will be available to buy early next year for about £9,500. It's currently targeted at businesses, researchers and developers.

Zhao Tongyang, founder and CEO of EngineAI Robotics, said in a statement: “Our goal is to make robotics technology truly serve humanity,. "And through continuous deepening of technological innovation and market expansion, we aim to bring embodied intelligent robots into every aspect of life.".

The impressive machine is 4.5ft tall and weighs 40kg, making it shorter than previous designs. It includes a "high-capacity" battery which lasts for up to two hours before needing to be charged. The Sun reported earlier this month an army of robot servants being built up in China that can do the laundry and other household chores.

The footage marked the latest in a string of unsettling Chinese advances, including stretching silicone skin over machine faces and replacing people with human-like bots at car manufacturers. The promotional video showcased the new range of five robots being mass produced by the Shanghai-based tech start-up Agibot.
