Wayne Rooney's sacking by Plymouth has left him facing fresh embarrassment with the TV documentary following him now up in the air. Rooney endured an awful reign in charge of the Pilgrims, leaving them rock bottom of the Championship. He failed to win a game away from home, with his side falling to multiple hammerings on the road.

It is the second time Rooney has been sacked in the same year, following his exit from Birmingham City in January. He was handed another crack in the second tier by Plymouth, who had three managers over the course of last season. The Manchester United legend arrived at Home Park midway through Euro 2024. He was joined by a camera crew, with the intention of filming a documentary around his first season with Plymouth.

But those plans were thrown into doubt at the start of December when The Sun reported that the production was under threat. It was claimed that the point of the documentary was to 'celebrate' Rooney's move from player to manager. There was a belief though that the production would be pulled if Rooney's reign became a 'horror show'. That has obviously now come to pass, with Rooney dismissed following Sunday's defeat to fellow strugglers Oxford United leaving the documentary's future up in the air.

Argyle have now gone nine games without a win, suffering thrashings from Norwich, Bristol City and Coventry City in that run. That has prompted Plymouth to let him go, along with assistant Mike Phelan and first team coach Simon Ireland. HAVE YOUR SAY! Should Wayne Rooney be handed another shot at management? Comment below.
