Football fans in the United Kingdom hoping to watch Liverpool's clash against Ipswich Town today are set to be disappointed. The Reds host Kieran McKenna's men in the hopes of extending their six-point lead at the top of the Premier League table. And Liverpool still boast one game in hand over their rivals as Arne Slot remains in pole position to end his maiden season in England by winning the title.

Arsenal's 2-2 draw at home to Aston Villa this past Saturday has shortened Liverpool's odds of clinching the crown even further. However, the Merseysiders have shown signs of stuttering after winning only one of their last three league outings. This afternoon's visit of Ipswich will be Liverpool's first time hosting a league fixture since sharing the spoils with Manchester United at the start of January. And Mirror Sport breaks down exactly why fans on UK shores won't be able to tune in live.

Saturday's showdown at Anfield is one of five 3pm kick-offs taking place in the Premier League. And as such, the fixture is scrutiny to the same blackout law that have been a contentious topic among football fans in the UK since it was introduced in 1960.

English football's 3pm blackout lasts between 2:45pm and 5:15pm and was brought in to encourage fans to attend lower-league fixtures. There are suggestions UK rules could undergo a makeover when the next TV rights deal ends in 2029, but the status quo will remain until then at least.
