Wynne Evans has reportedly been supported by his girlfriend Liz Brookes, despite claims she had dumped him. The Welsh opera singer, 53, recently joked about having a threesome – or ‘spit roast’ – with Strictly Live presenter and professional dancer Janette Manrana, 41, during a photo call with the cast of the Strictly Come Dancing live tour. Evans later said he was ‘deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate action caused’ and would take a break from the public eye for ‘self-reflection’ and to ‘prioritise my wellbeing’. as he stepped back from the tour.

Despite recent reports claiming events manager Brookes, 53, had ended their romance over his behaviour, it’s now said she has been supporting the GoCompare star. ‘Everyone is rallying around Wynne – Liz included. It’s a very testing time and he is appreciative of all the love and support he is getting,’ a source told the Mirror. Earlier this week, a source told The Sun: that she had been left ‘humiliated by what happened when he was on Strictly’.

The insider added: ‘She always knew he was a bit old school, and actually liked the fact he seemed rough round the edges. She just assumed it was all part of his charm.’. They added: ‘It’s not clear exactly when they split, but friends say that when his latest lewd gaffe was revealed at the Strictly Live Tour launch she was relieved they were no longer together.’. Brookes and Evans are believed to have started dating in the spring after his divorce from his wife of 16 years Tanwen Evans.

In October, she supported him in the aftermath of a ‘silly joke’ he made with dance pro Katya Jones on Strictly. On the BBC show, in front of around six million fans, the opera singer placed his hand on Jones’s waist and kept reaching it further around her midriff until she removed it with a smile on her face. Amid the furore, Brookes posted a selfie taken on the dancefloor in which she and Evans beamed while cosied up on the dancefloor.

‘What a superstar!’, she wrote, followed by a red heart emoji. After the incident, Evans and Jones repeatedly denied that he engaged in any sort of ‘inappropriate’ behaviour or upset her at all. They also apologised for any offence it may have caused, but insisted it was an ‘inside joke’. Last week, Evans was captured making an obscene comment referencing threesomes directed at Janette at Birmingham Arena, with EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick apparently wincing at the comment.

In response, he wrote on Instagram: ‘I’ve agreed with the BBC that I’ll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour as well as my other public commitments to prioritise my wellbeing. ‘I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate action have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection. ‘Apologies to those I won’t get to see at the remaining performances and I’m grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.’.

His Strictly pro-partner Jones later shared her own statement on Instagram. She reposted Wynne’s story and added: ‘Let’s show humanity and consideration. I will miss you my darling boy.’. She then posted a clip of Wynne on stage, adding: ‘Really missed this tonight,’ with a sad face. It was reported earlier today that the BBC planned to release a statement about Wynne no longer being in the series.

‘He’s had repeated warnings about his behaviour and told to reign it in. He’s not been taking it in, in this day and age the BBC have to be seen taking action and safeguard everyone,’ a source told The Sun. ‘He’s had a tough time with the death of his brother and people should give him some slack, he is going to take this time off to do some self reflection. ‘He has a lot of support from a lot of the backstage dancers. It’s been a really sad ending to what has been a really fun tour.’.

The publication also reported despite Evans apologising, it ‘hasn’t saved his place on the tour and bosses have now removed him, despite initially giving him a final warning.’. In a statement to Metro, Evans said: ‘My language was inappropriate and unacceptable, for which I sincerely apologise.’. A spokesman for BBC Studios and the Strictly Live Tour producers also said: ‘We were not previously aware of the remark and did not receive any complaints.

‘We have made it very clear to Wynne that we do not tolerate such behaviour on the tour.’. Last week Evans was also forced to pull out from two of the live shows after suffering an ankle injury. Sharing a photo of his bruised foot on Instagram he wrote: ‘Turned my ankle last night in the show but I’m being a brave soldier.’. The next day he shared another photo and said while his foot was ‘sore’, he was feeling positive as the swelling was ‘subsiding’.
