But one woman has been left horrified by the way she discovered her boyfriend was seeing someone else behind her back - as it all occurred over text messages that she could read. What's more, her partner decided to leave her at home while he went out to meet his affair partner, believing that she had no idea what was going on.
Elle shared a video on TikTok in which she said she recently had to get a new phone with a new number – and while out for lunch with her boyfriend, he told her that she needed to text him so that he had her new number. When the pair got home, she sent him a "spicy" text, and he headed to the bathroom and replied to her. The pair began flirting over text messages while still in the same house, and Elle said she was "getting all hot and bothered".
Then her partner texted her to say, "I'll be there soon," and Elle was convinced he just meant he would be coming out of the bathroom. However, when he came out of the bathroom, he told his girlfriend that he's "gotta leave" because of an "emergency". The pieces didn't begin to fall into place for the woman until her boyfriend stopped at the front door and said: "Oh, you never sent me a text message. I still don't have your number.".
Elle was left reeling as she realised her boyfriend thought he was texting someone else the whole afternoon, leading her to be convinced that he was cheating on her. She said: "When he got home that night, I was p***ed. I asked him who he thought he was texting, and he lies and pretty much just says he knew it was me, he was just messing with me. Totally gaslights me and makes me think I'm crazy.". In the comments, people urged the woman to confront her boyfriend again over his mysterious trip out of the house, as they were also convinced he must be cheating. One person said: "Definitely weird, babe. You should confront him, you deserve so much more!" Another added: "I would use the time he's with another woman to move him and all his stuff out of the house.".
