For many, a jacket potato is more than just a side - it's a satisfying main topped with generous fillings. However, the cooking time can be a bit of a drag, with ovens and air fryers taking their sweet time. But worry not, as an expert has come up with a sublime baked potato recipe that's ready in a mere 10 minutes. Food expert Rice Bethel, on his TikTok handle @noflakeysalt, showed off how to cook a baked potato "better" without ever turning on the oven. He captioned his post: "The right way to bake a potato. Baking a potato in the oven takes over an hour, doing it in the microwave takes 10 minutes. Try this method instead.".

Kicking off this quick technique, grab a good-sized spud, stab it with holes for steam to escape, aiding in "absorb more butter", and zap it on a plate in the microwave. After five minutes flip it, and then another five will have it done. Pointing out the wrinkles on the potato, Roice explained they're a solid sign of success. Once halved, the potato revealed itself to be fully cooked, with an enviable fluffiness inside, reports the Express.

TikTok users weren't shy to chime into the comments. @shirley2502 said: "That is the best way" while @therealphxfoodie confessed: "I spent an hour baking a potato for dinner one night and it still wasn't baked through and I swore to only microwave them from now on.". Some viewers, however, weren’t completely sold on this method for making the perfect baked potato, voicing concerns over ending up with a soggy skin. To tackle this problem, many proposed giving the potato a half-time stint in the air fryer to crisp up the exterior.

@jeffreythomas suggested: "I do five minutes in the microwave and finish in the air fryer to get crispy skin." Meanwhile, @suedonim recommended: "Need crispy skin though. Five minutes in the microwave and 10 in the air fryer.". Concerning crispy skin desires, @mrs_198o advised: "Microwave six minutes, Spray oil, and salt, then air fryer for 10 minutes. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside.". Serve the food you really want to eat by signing up for our tips and recipes and never be bored by your cooking again.
