The Grand Hyatt in Shanghai, China is located on the 53rd to 87th floors of the city’s Jin Mao Tower. The hotel’s height – coupled with it’s mind-mending spiral design – means that guests have warned those with vertigo or a fear of heights to stay well away. The five-star hotel, which opened in 2000, occupies a section of the 420-metre-high skyscraper in Shanghai.

It boasts 548 luxurious rooms that overlook the city’s skyline below, and was once the highest hotel in the world. Inside, there are eight restaurants and bars to explore. There’s also an indoor swimming pool and a skywalk. Cloud 9, the hotel’s cocktail bar, sits on the 87th floor and is described as ‘the pinnacle of the Jin Mao Tower’. Guests can enjoy 360 views of the city below. Prices for the unique hotel vary depending on when you visit and the room you choose, with several options on offer. The cheapest option is the 1 Queen Bed Room, with prices starting from around £120 on Booking.com.
