Wynne Evans's travel show has been pulled from the BBC schedules weeks after he was removed from the Strictly Come Dancing tour following a scandal. The 53-year-old Go Compare singer was a contestant on the BBC's long-running dance competition last year - where he was paired with Katya Jones and they made it all the way to Blackpool before they were booted from the show. During their time on the series, Wynne and Katya became engulfed in scandal as he placed a hand on her which she slapped away - prompting viewers to speculate there was uneasy feelings between the pair.
While the duo insisted they were firm friends, but Wynne became further engulfed in scandal this year when it was reported he used had cracked sexist jokes while touring with co-stars as part of the Strictly Live Tour. The opera singer was subsequently dropped from the live tour - and now a planned episode of his travel show has been dropped from BBC schedules. Wynne - who took time away from his BBC Wales radio show as scandal surrounded him - has been co-hosting All At Sea; a travel show also helmed by Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page. The latest episode has been pulled and replaced by a documentary special about EastEnders, hosted by Ross Kemp.
The long-running soap is celebrating its 40th year and has a number of special events around it - including a live episode on Thursday. Wynne & Joanna: All At Sea usually airs Mondays at 8.30pm, but has been replaced by an hour long special titled EastEnders: 40 Years on the Square which begins at 8pm. Wynne's travel show has been moved to Wednesday instead. The scheduling update comes amid fears that the travel series could be axed completely. Betting experts even gave odds on the show getting cancelled when. Wynne was in the midst of his controversial comment scandal at the beginning of the month.
Lee Astley, spokesperson for BetIdeas, said: “Wynne Evans’ new BBC show ‘All At Sea’ is in danger of being cancelled and we go 4/6 the series is taken off air before the six episodes are aired. Calls for the show’s demise have stemmed from a reported inappropriate remark Evans made at the live Strictly tour and it looks increasingly likely the show will not reach its end. "It’s highly unlikely that the show will have a follow-up series as a result – we make it 1/8 that a sequel series is not commissioned." The betting insight came days after Wynne revealed that he had decided to step away from performing during the 2025 Strictly Live UK tour.
He said in a statement at the time: "I've agreed with the BBC that I'll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing. I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection. Apologies to those I won't get to see at the remaining performances and I'm grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.".
Following the announcement, Wynne's Strictly partner, professional dancer Katya Jones, 35, reacted to the news. Sharing his statement, she wrote over it: "Let's show humanity and consideration. I will miss you my darling boy.". Follow Mirror Celebs on TikTok , Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter , Facebook , YouTube and Threads.
