Amy Schumer has revealed she called Kim Kardashian to get permission for a joke about the reality star's late father Robert Kardashian in her new movie. The comedian, 43, is returning to screens with her new romantic comedy, Kinda Pregnant, and while viewers will be treated to risque jokes, Amy admitted she took steps to avoid hurting the feelings of her friends in the process. During her appearance on SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday, the Trainwreck star explained: 'I said, "I want to make this joke where I'm reading this kid, instead of a bedtime story, a tabloid.".

'I pitched her a couple jokes. I asked if she would mind, and she didn't mind. How cool is she?'. Host Stern then noted: 'One of the highlights in the film for me was the bedtime story. '"There once was a family of beautiful princesses called the Kardashians and they lived in a palace that their dad bought them by defending a murderer." I mean, what a f**king line.'. During her appearance on SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday, Amy admitted she took steps to avoid hurting the feelings of her friends in the process making viewers laugh. According to Schumer, Kardashian, 44, had no issue with the jokes and encouraged her friend to go for it. She explained: 'She's like, "Yeah, do the one about my dad defending a murderer." She was that chill. She's such a good sport.'.

The Skims mogul's late father was famously one of the lawyers who defended O.J. Simpson during his 1995 murder trial. Simpson was found not guilty of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. Meanwhile, fans have had a mixed reaction to early teasers of Schumer's movie which follows a Brooklyn-based English teacher who, feeling a twinge of jealousy over her best friend Kate's (Jillian Bell) pregnancy, decides to fake a baby bump.

But things take an unexpected turn when she meets Josh (Will Forte), the man of her dreams, and her harmless fib spirals into a much bigger mess. The first trailer left fans polarized with one critic bluntly posting: 'The fact that you normally put some of the funniest moments in a trailer tells me all I need to know about how bad this film will be.'. Another commenter wasn't holding back either as they asked: 'Is this supposed to be funny or 100 percent cringe?'.

Meanwhile, a particularly harsh review read: 'Nobody asked for an Amy Schumer movie in 2025. We will NOT be watching it.'.

However, it wasn't all doom and gloom as one cautiously optimistic fan noted: 'This role kind of seems like it's in Amy's wheelhouse. I'm not a big fan of hers, but I could end up watching this.'. Another chimed in with: 'Early 2010s I really hated Amy Schumer, but Trainwreck was hilarious. Honestly, I'm inclined to give this a chance.'. The project is directed by Tyler Spindel - who is known for working on other movies such as The Out-Laws (2023).
