Renowned boxing coach Teddy Atlas believes two-time heavyweight world champions Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury could have beaten a prime Mike Tyson. Atlas, 68, is known for coaching many world champions, including the likes of 'Iron Mike,' Alexander Povetkin and Michael Moorer. Tyson announced his retirement from the sport of boxing in 2005 after suffering a defeat to Kevin McBride. However, he decided to return in an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr in 2020. While many assumed it'd be a one-off, the 58-year-old returned to the squared-circle in a professional setting last November against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.
Tyson was unable to roll back the years on fight night after suffering a unanimous decision defeat to the young American. As for Joshua, he was last seen in action back in September and was brutally knocked out by Daniel Dubois at Wembley while Fury was beaten twice by Oleksandr Usyk last year. Over the years, many have wondered how the current crop at heavyweight would fare against legends who had previously competed in the aforementioned weight class.
'Iron Mike' is regarded as one of the best to ever do it at heavyweight, but his former coach Atlas believes Joshua, Fury and Dubois would beat the former world champion during the peak of his powers. In an interview with CanadaCasino.Ca, he said: “I don't think you would have looked at Buster Douglas as one of the great fighters of any generation. He was a talented kid, a talented man. I like him. I give him credit for what he did that night. I give him nothing but credit. How he redeemed himself from past nights, and how he stood up and he faced his inhibitions. He faced his fears. He faced the boogeyman. He really did. He did what people thought was impossible, and he finally showed all the talent that people said he had.
