Anthony Joshua says a British mega-fight with Tyson Fury "has to happen this year" following the Gypsy King's most recent loss to Oleksandr Usyk. Fury's future is uncertain after he was bested by the Ukrainian for a second time in Saudi Arabia just before Christmas. Both he and his promoter, Frank Warren, have since disputed the scorecards after Usyk secured victory by unanimous decision to remain undisputed world heavyweight champion.

Joshua is still smarting from a defeat of his own after he was brutally knocked out by IBF champ Daniel Dubois at Wembley back in September. The former world champions have been tipped to finally fight in 2025 off the back of their respective losses - and Joshua admits it's a bout he desperately wants to make happen.

"It's a fight I want to see because I am a fan of boxing. When I am in the gym, everyone is asking me [about this fight]. I ain't got many years ahead of me. I want to leave the game with a bang and make an impact," Joshua said at the Ring Magazine awards in London, where he had earlier quipped on social media that he was 'hunting' for Fury.

"Everyone is asking me the same question. It's up to me to deliver, that's why I'm saying it has to happen this year. I think we can make this fight happen.". While Joshua may be optimistic over the chances of getting the fight on, he went on to admit that, as of yet, there had been no fights about getting the fight on later this year.
