Actor Bruce Willis, famed for his roles as tough-as-nails cops like Die Hard's John McClane, paid tribute to the real-life heroes who protected Hollywood during the Los Angeles wildfires. "Whenever he spotted a first responder, Bruce never missed the chance to offer a heartfelt handshake and a 'Thank you for your service,'" wrote Bruce's wife, Emma Heming, on Instagram, sharing a series of snaps of the superstar greeting LAPD officers during an unexpected visit. "Yesterday was no different.".

However, not every day is the same in Bruce's personal life. In 2022, Bruce's family announced his retirement from acting following his diagnosis with aphasia, a neurological disorder that impairs communication abilities. The Pulp Fiction star's condition has since developed into a form of dementia called frontotemporal dementia. "Though his spirit is still there, he's not the same Bruce anymore," a source told Life and Style.

"He's being brave, but life is also scary for him at times. The public doesn't see the dark side of his illness. Fortunately, he has his family to support him through what they've come to accept as his final chapter," reports the Mirror US. While some days are better than others for Bruce, a "typical day" for the award-winning actor might involve waking up, spending time with his girls and wife, having breakfast, and enjoying time at home. "Maybe one of his buddies might come over," the source added to Life and Style.

His ex-wife, actress Demi Moore, also visits regularly. The Hollywood star opened up on her close relationship with Bruce during an intimate interview in September 2024, claiming: "When I'm in L.A., I go over every week," and added poignantly, "I really treasure the time that we all share.". A source close to the family revealed that after their gatherings, Bruce would indulge in simple pleasures: "He may not be living his life on movie sets anymore, but he still enjoys seeing his community." The Willis clan is gradually adjusting to the tough reality of Bruce's health woes. Emma, Bruce's devoted wife, has been transparent about their daughters Mabel and Evelyn growing accustomed to their father's struggles, stating that they've "grown up with Bruce declining over the years. I'm not trying to shield them from it.".

Moreover, she gave the heartbreaking confirmation that they are all aware "know that Daddy's not going to get better." Equally, Bruce's daughters with first wife Demi – Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah – have reset their expectations. In a conversation with E! News back in August 2024, a grounded Tallulah shared: "Our visits have so much love and I feel that," emphasising that "and that overarches anything for me - being able to have that connection.".
