Leeds boss Daniel Farke insisted this no-score bore was a good result for his Championship leaders. Leeds extended their advantage to two points and Farke was content after shutting out promotion rivals Burnley at Turf Moor. “Yes, it’s a good result for us,” he said. “We’ve picked up a point on the road with a clean sheet.

“We had a really difficult game against one of the best sides in the Championship, with a massive unbeaten run, so if you come away with a point and a clean sheet on the road, it’s always a good result. It was not the most sexy of football, it was not the most entertaining, but it was not the worst thing for our confidence.

“When it came to the final pass, we could have been a bit better, more committed. That’s the only thing I could criticise, but apart from that, take nothing away from this.” This was billed as a summit meeting at Turf Moor, but instead it turned into a snooze fest.

Leeds’ Dan James managed the only shot on target, while Illan Meslier was a virtual spectator in the Whites goal. Leeds consolidated their lead, while Burnley, who extended their unbeaten run to 17 games, closed to within a point of second-placed Sheffield United, but that was about it.

For the Clarets, it was the fourth goalless draw in their last five home games, yet their fans still showed marvellous support for their team. They have extended their run without conceding in the Championship to 10 hours and 40 minutes, but it means little when they can’t score.
