Burnley and Leeds United play out Championship stalemate with one shot on target

If both these sides are playing Premier League football next season then no one will remember this damp squib where the football was as filthy as the weather. A much-hyped contest which pitted third versus first was a pronounced let-down with just one effort on target; Leeds winger Dan James’ shot which was turned over by James Trafford in the 89th minute.
The bitter cold, and driving wind and rain, was matched by the on-field fare, although both managers could certainly not be described as unhappy with a point. Burnley registered a seventh successive clean sheet – and a 20th in the Championship this season – and have conceded just nine goals in 29 games.
Scott Parker hailed his side’s defensive resolve against a Leeds side who are the division’s top scorers but who created next to nothing at Turf Moor. The Burnley boss said: “People want to highlight the fact that we’ve not scored many goals but what have been done in terms of clean sheets is quite remarkable.
“That’s twice we’ve played Leeds and we’ve taken four points off them without conceding a goal.”. Leeds counterpart Daniel Farke saw his side extend their lead at the Championship summit to two points. He said: “With the ball, I would have wished we could have been a bit more confident.
“That was only criticism, but Burnley had conceded only nine goals and to get a point was really good for our defensive behaviour. “I wouldn’t say it was the sexiest performance, but overall a point and a clean sheet at Turf Moor is not the worst thing.”.
