Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown reckons the club is glamorous enough to lure players such as Cole Palmer to Old Trafford. United sit a shocking 13th in the Premier League table after 20 games, seven points clear of the relegation places, with head coach Ruben Amorim recently highlighting the risks of a relegation battle.

But Brown says the club remains attractive enough to land some top names and he is tipping them to make an outlandish move for Palmer. The Chelsea star grew up as a United fan but is heading towards a place in next season’s Champions League as the leading man at Stamford Bridge.

United are also unable to spend huge amounts of money without high-profile sales because of financial fair play concerns. But Brown told The Sports Daily: “Luckily for Manchester United, they still have the star power to be able to tempt top players like Cole Palmer to the club.

“Chelsea have done so well to develop Palmer after taking a small risk in signing him and look at how good he is as a player at such a young age. “I would love to see him at United but he’d already cost a lot of money. He’s a player that all the best teams in the world will be looking at just in case there is any chance of signing him.

“If United had any chance at all then they would snap your hand off, they should always be looking out for the best young players in the world.”. Brown has also claimed that Wayne Rooney, sacked by Plymouth last week, should consider returning to United as a specialist coach focused on improving the underperforming squad's goalscoring.
