Cheryl Fergison, best known for her role as Heather Trott in EastEnders, has secured a part in the popular BBC sitcom Mandy. The actress is among the new additions to the cast for the upcoming fourth series. Filming has commenced on the latest instalments of the comedy, which features Diane Morgan of Motherland fame as the eponymous character.

The show humorously chronicles Mandy's questionable side hustles and ill-fated ventures while she tries to dodge her benefits officer. Cheryl's character details remain under wraps, but she'll be joining other fresh faces such as Sian Gibson from Car Share, Rosie Cavaliero of The Power of Parker, Jamie Bisping from Things You Should Have Done, and Joanna Bacon of Breeders.

BBC’s Director of Comedy Jon Petrie expressed his excitement about the new series, stating: "Series 3 saw Mandy save a plane from a terrorist attack, commit mass murder with a blowpipe, and get fired from a biscuit factory. Mandy gets bigger, bolder, and more brilliantly absurd with every series – and we’re here for every hilarious moment of Diane Morgan’s brilliant creation.".

Cheryl portrayed Shirley Carter’s ( Linda Henry ) best friend Heather on EastEnders from 2007 to 2012. Her character was tragically killed off when Ben Mitchell (then played by Joshua Pascoe) struck her with a photo frame. Since then, Cheryl has made appearances in Celebrity Big Brother and Catherine Tate's mockumentary Hard Cell. She has also built an impressive career on stage and is regularly part of the panto season - with recent roles including the fairy in Jack and the Beanstock and Fairy Godmother in Cinderella.
