Former EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison has landed a role in hit BBC sitcom Mandy. The actress – best known to soap fans as Walford’s Heather Trott – is among the names who have joined the cast for the upcoming fourth series. Filming has started on new episodes of the sitcom, which stars Motherland’s Diane Morgan as the titular character.
The absurdish show follows Mandy as she cooks up dodgy side hustles and embarks on hapless endevours while trying to avoid her benefits officer. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video.
Up Next. While it is not yet known who Cheryl will play in the new series, she will be joined by other new cast members including Car Share’s Sian Gibson, Rosie Cavaliero (The Power of Parker), Jamie Bisping (Things You Should Have Done) and Joanna Bacon (Breeders).
Speaking about the new series, the BBC’s Director of Comedy Jon Petrie says: ‘Series 3 saw Mandy save a plane from a terrorist attack, commit mass murder with a blowpipe, and get fired from a biscuit factory. ‘Mandy gets bigger, bolder, and more brilliantly absurd with every series – and we’re here for every hilarious moment of Diane Morgan’s brilliant creation.’.
Cheryl played Shirley Carter’s (Linda Henry) best mate Heather on EastEnders for five years between 2007 and 2012. The fan-favourite was killed off when Ben Mitchell (then Joshua Pascoe) hit her over the head with a photo frame. Since then, Cheryl has appeared in Celebrity Big Brother and Catherine Tate mockumentary Hard Cell.
