Former Browns defensive lineman Lonnie Phelps sentenced after crashing his car into Key West restaurant

A former Cleveland Browns defensive lineman has been sentenced after crashing his car into a restaurant in Key West, Florida last summer. Lonnie Phelps has been sentenced to 12 months probation after filing a plea of no-contest to a count of misdemeanor driving under the influence (DUI), according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
In addition to the probation, Phelps will have his license suspended for six months, he'll need to perform 50 hours community service, and will have to enroll in classes teaching the dangers of DUI. He has also been ordered to pay $1,000 in fines and court costs, plus he'll need to pay restitution to the victims at a later date.
Phelps was told he could be eligible for early probation termination after six months if he fulfills his conditions of his plea agreement. He has been barred from consuming illegal drugs or alcohol during the term of his probation. Phelps was arrested by Key West police and was overheard slurring his words to authorities. Phelps crashed his black Hyundai into the Red Shoe Island Bistro while driving with his partner. Authorities say Phelps crashed his Hyundai SUV into Red Shoe Island Bistro on the Florida Keys while intoxicated back in June 2024.
