Guests who were staying at Trump Tower in Las Vegas have opened up about their terrifying experiences after a Tesla Cybertruck packed with explosives blew up outside the hotel. US Army member Matthew Livelsberger set off the explosion on Wednesday outside the Trump Hotel. The 37-year-old, who was "on leave from active military duty in Germany" used fireworks to cause the blast at 7.30am, local time.
Livelsberger had returned to his home city of Colorado Springs while on leave, however a relative said his wife had not heard from him in several days. The FBI is said to be searching a property in Colorado Springs linked to Livelsberger as armoured vehicles and agents in tactical gear were spotted parked outside.
Now, guests staying at the ritzy hotel have started to share their experiences of what it was like inside Trump Tower when the explosion was detonated. Australian tourist Linda Murray, 71, told the New York Post: "Someone knocked on the door and said, 'You need to get out. There's been an explosion'. So we just jumped up, and got dressed.".
Ms Murray was staying in an adjoining room on one of the hotel's upper floors with her children and seven grandchildren. She said by the time the family were all together, the lifts were out of order and so they were forced to walk down 55 flights of stairs.
Meanwhile, Lauren Straub, 31, and her partner Elad Levy, 34, were on their way to check out when the explosion occurred. Ms Straub, from New Jersey, recalled: "So we were just going down for checkout, and the elevator wasn't wokring, so we walked down the stairs from the 29th floor. There was a Trump hotel employee there who told us what was going on, and they just had everyone evacuate into the lot adjacent to the hotel.".
