Royal Variety Performance viewers were all saying the same thing just minutes into the 2024 show. The pre-recorded event, hosted by Alan Carr and Amanda Holden, took place last month but aired to the nation on Sunday (December 15) evening. King Charles III and the crowds at the Royal Albert Hall were treated to performances from a star-studded line-up including Sophie Ellis-Bexter, the cast of The Devil Wears Parada and Lorraine Kelly's Change and Check Choir led by Marti Pellow.

However, just minutes into the annual show, ITV viewers watching at home were all left saying the same thing and took to social media to share their thoughts. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan said: "Amanda Holden, no thanks #RoyalVarietyPerformance." A second added: "Dreadful presenters #RoyalVarietyPerformance." A third person said: "Well, Alan Carr and Amanda Holden are absolutely dreadful. This opening is so awkward. #RoyalVarietyPerformance.".

However, others were impressed with the double act, with someone writing: "Alan Carr is hilarious. & Amanda Holden isn't looking too bad either." Another added: "Love Amanda and Alan together.". Comedian Alan previously hosted the Royal Variety Performance back in 2021 but this tie he was joined by his close pal Amanda. Speaking about hosting the annual event for the first time, she said: "It truly is such an honour to be hosting the Royal Variety Performance this year.
