It all goes awry when the team encounter a family who have had their boat capsized by aquatic dinosaurs, with the group ending up marooned on an island that once housed an undisclosed research facility for the ill-fated Jurassic Park.
While it was touted as the final film in the Jurassic World trilogy, it was described by producer Frank Marshall as the "start of a new era.".
