Khloe Kardashian slams 'disrespectful moment' on Grammys red carpet

Reality TV star Khloe Kardashian is leading the outrage online following an awkward moment on the red carpet at the 67th Grammy Awards. The mum-of-two, 40, told American singer, songwriter, and record producer he "is a pioneer and deserves so much better than this" via Twitter (X) on Sunday night after his interview was brutally cut short in order for his interviewers to speak to Chappell Roan. In a clip circulating on social media, Leslie Ambriz and Krysta Fauria from the Associated Press can be seen chatting to Babyface, who produced over 26 number-one R&B hits throughout his career, and asking him his thoughts on women in the industry.
However, as he begins to give his answer, one of the reporters notices Pink Pony Club singer Roan walk down the carpet and yells her over mid-interview. "You guys wanna do that?" Babyface asks as he notices their attention is now focused on someone else. "You go do that," he adds before the interview wraps. The awkward moment sparked a furious reaction on social media Twitter, with Khloe Kardashian one of those horrified. "This is so disrespectful how Babyface was treated in this interview," the reality TV star began in her lengthy tweet. "Babyface has had such a significant impact on the music industry, in sooo many ways. Its maddening to see a LEGEND not get the respect and attention they deserve. He is a pioneer and deserves so much better than this.".
She continued: "With decades of groundbreaking work as a songwriter, producer, and performer, he's shaped the sound of multiple generations. I love you @babyface And I am a forever fan and thankful for all that you have blessed us with By the way- what a class act you are PS big or small, old or new, - you don't treat people like this. At least not in my eyes. There's a way to handle this and this was wrong in my opinion.".
Amid the backlash, Fauria - one of the two reporters involved in the now-viral interview - has issued an apology. She said: "I wanted to say that I’m really sorry about interrupting Babyface earlier… There was a lot of commotion on the carpet, but I’m a big Babyface fan, as are we all. I really apologise.". Elsewhere during the Grammys, Chappell Roan has called on record labels to provide a "liveable wage" to rising stars after winning the best new artist award. Roan, whose real name is Kayleigh Amstutz, received a standing ovation from many artists in the Los Angeles crowd as she also called on labels to provide healthcare for those at the start of their career.
Speaking as she accepted the award, Roan said: "I told myself, if I ever won a Grammy, and I got to stand up here in front of the most powerful people in music, I would demand that labels and the industry profiting millions of dollars off of artists, would offer a liveable wage and healthcare, especially to developing artists. "Because I got signed so young, I got signed as a minor, and when I got dropped, I had zero job experience under my belt, and like most people, I had a difficult time finding a job in the pandemic and could not afford health insurance. It was so devastating to feel so committed to my art and feel so betrayed by the system, and so dehumanised to have to not have healthcare.".
She continued: "And if my label would have prioritised artist’s health, I could have been provided care by a company I was giving everything to. So record labels need to treat their artists as valuable employees with a liveable wage and health insurance, and protection. Labels, we got you, but do you got us? Thank you.". Like this story?
