Lego display crashes onto crowd at New Year's Eve event at arcade with 10 injured A Lego display crashed down onto children at a New Year’s Eve celebration injuring 10 people in chaotic scenes.
Peabody fire Chief John Dowling said that the display fell around 12 feet onto the spectators and 10 people suffered minor injuries with eight taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Mr Dowling said that they initially received a call saying that a ceiling at the arcade had collapsed onto people but added when police arrived it appeared as though somebody had pulled too hard on the display causing it to fall over.
Families in festive spirits had gathered for the fun event but when balloons were released they knocked over the display on the mezzanine level and landed on people causing 10 injuries according to police.
Footage shows a large crowd having gathered at the In the Game arcade on Lowell Street in Peabody, Massachusetts, for the kids event when the plastic display fell on top of them.
