Lidl launches urgent recall for popular pretzel snack that might spark 'burning sensation'

Brits have been issued an urgent warning as Lidl recalls a popular snack following reports it causes a "burning sensation". The UK supermarket giant has been forced to issue a recall of two Alpenfest Salted Mini Pretzel products, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA). In an announcement posted online, the FSA said the pretzels "may cause a burning sensation in the mouth when consumed". The sensation "potentially" causes discomfort, making the pretzels "unsafe to the consumer". The organisation has now issued a selection of batch codes for recall as it urges anyone who may have the products in their homes to return them to the supermarket.
Lidl introduced "point of sale" notices which have been displayed in stores where it is selling four products, each of which have one of two batch numbers, with any other shops selling the pretzels following suit. The FSA said the notices "explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products.". The announcement, the FSA said, covers the following products:.
Alpenfest Style Salted Mini Pretzels – Milk Chocolate. Alpenfest Style Salted Mini Pretzels – Dark Chocolate. People who have any of the above products in their home have been advised to return them to Lidl, the FSA states, with customers told to expect a full refund. The FSA states: "If you have bought any of the above products do not consume them. Instead, return them to the nearest Lidl store for a full refund." Anyone who needs further information regarding the recall has been asked to contact Lidl's customer care department either on the phone or via email.
