The January transfer window is now just days away, though the focus at Liverpol will be around contracts. The futures of Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all up in the air. Their deals will expire at the end of the current season, with little public sign of progress in talks with any of the trio.

Alexander-Arnold is being closely monitored by Real Madrid, with the Spanish giants having long been linked with the right-back. Salah and Van Dijk meanwhile are hoping to extend their stays at Anfield. Liverpool will also be looking to add to Arne Slot's squad as they seek to win the Premier League title. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Liverpool transfer news.

Real Madrid are not looking to sign Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk. The defender's contract will expire at the end of the season, with Madrid having been floated as a potential destination for the Dutchman. But according to Marca, those reports were misplaced, with Los Blancos 'refusing' to make 'any offers' for Van Dijk. While he is admired and respected by Bernabeu chiefs, he is not part of their future plans.

They are also not considering the defender as a possible signing ahead of next season. Madrid are instead understood to be targeting younger defenders as they prepare to overhaul the position. HAVE YOUR SAY! Who should be Liverpool's top target in January? Comment below.
