A Redditor who emailed McVitie’s reported the brand’s response: “For your information, the biscuits go through a reservoir of chocolate which enrobes them, so the chocolate is actually on the bottom of the biscuit, not the top.
Caroline Hipperson, chief marketing officer for the company also said: "So, we can officially confirm that the side with the chocolate on is in fact the bottom of a McVitie's chocolate biscuit.
So, next time that you come across a chocolate digestive biscuit from McVitie, make sure tat you actually eat it with the chocolate facing down.
There are also several other varieties available, including: original, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, and caramel.
This isn’t the first time the brand has had to explain how to eat their biscuits, but it still feels a bit wrong to hold the chocolate side from the bottom.
