Mohamed Salah breaks Premier League record and makes Liverpool history in Tottenham rout

Mohamed Salah carved out pieces of Premier League and Liverpool history in Sunday's remarkable rout at Tottenham. The Reds beat Spurs 6-3 in a madcap game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to go four points clear at the top of the Premier League table with a game in hand, and as ever Salah was to the fore.
The Egyptian was in the thick of the action in north London, but it was Luis Diaz who opened the scoring from Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross in the 23rd minute. Alexis Mac Allister headed home from close range to make it two, and after James Maddison pulled one back for Spurs with a shot from the edge of the box, Salah made his first bit of history of the afternoon shortly before half-time.
The Reds forward set up Dominik Szoboszlai to make it 3-1, and in doing so he registered his 10th Premier League assist of the season to go along with his 13 goals, becoming the first player in Premier League history to hit double figures in both categories before Christmas.
Salah would then add two goals in the second half for his next bit of history. Going into the game he sat fifth in Liverpool's all-time list of top scorers, one behind the legendary Scot Billy Liddell who played for the Reds between 1938 and 1961, with his career spanning the Second World War.
Liddell scored 228 goals in 534 games for the Reds, and such was his dominance that Liverpool began to be known as 'Liddellpool' during his storied career, which saw him win the First Division title in 1947. With his brace at Tottenham, Salah has now surpassed Liddell and gone into an outright fourth spot in the list of Liverpool's top scorers. Ahead of him now lies Gordon Hodgson on 241 goals, then Roger Hunt on 285 and Ian Rush on a remarkable 346.
