Liverpool's tunnel cam captured a furious Mohamed Salah after the Premier League leaders conceded a 90th-minute consolation goal in their 4-1 rout of Ipswich Town. While Jacob Greaves' late header did nothing to change the outcome of the game, Salah's reaction - throwing his arms in the air after the ball nestled behind Alisson Becker - demonstrated just how much of a winner the 32-year-old is.
His raging response to Liverpool's failure to keep consecutive clean sheets, a feat they last achieved in the first two games of the season, was well-received by fans, who picked up on it while watching the club's Inside Anfield video on YouTube. One appreciated the Egyptian's annoyance by writing: "I love how annoyed Salah is when the other team score." A second replied: "I agree with Mo. A clean sheet Is always very welcome..." While a third pleaded for the club's hierarchy to tie him down for the foreseeable future by adding: "Give Mo a contract to sign.".
Liverpool retained their six-point lead over Arsenal with their win against The Tractor Boys while continuing to have a game in hand. Despite being days away from February, the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold has yet to be put to an end.
With the trio out of contract this summer, Salah revealed his hope that he can lead the club to their second Premier League title triumph before the players who were also part of the 2019/20 title-winning campaign potentially leave Anfield. "I just always try to give my best whatever, if I win trophies or not, but my motivation this year was really to win a trophy and be part of winning that trophy, especially the Premier League," he said in a recent interview.
